The Bezhoek Team is working on new routes around the clock and we are adding new sections almost every month. Then there are our neighbours and in our case the saying “good fences makes good neighbours” definitely do not apply. Both private and corporate land owners like Corobrik are opening their gates to help us make Bezhoek Extreme bigger and better.
Although all the riders that took part in the inaugural event knows exactly what to expect, word got out and many that missed the 2018 event are asking what the routes and elevations look like. Although the distance and elevations only tells one side of the story it generally gives a good indication of what to expect. The only other thing we need to add is this; do not underestimate the impact of the terrain. The Bezhoek Extreme is a real challenge and riders like Sarah Hill and Amy Beth McDougall can tell you all about it.
Although the 2019 route will include some significant changed these profiles will give you a very good indication of what you are in for. The final route and profiles will be announced early 2019.
Stage 1 (Options): 50km Half | 68km Marathon | 93km Ultra
Stage 2: 48km Half Marathon
Bezhoek Extreme is however not all Blood, Sweat and Tears. It is impossible to describe the beauty of the Olifants River Valley to anybody that hasn’t seen it. This, combined with the biodiversity found in the surrounding areas gives participants everything they could ask for in a race and more.
Come and see for yourself by entering for the Bezhoek Extreme MTB Festival 2019.
