Galileo Risk Ladies Team | Theresa Ralph and Sarah Hill

You’ll always find them chilling with the other riders under the trees in the race villages, they are the chatty ones on the start line and they always have a quirky comment or a funny pose ready for the video crews. They bring some light-heartedness into an otherwise serious racing category and they are two amazing sports ambassadors.

Yes we are talking about Theresa Ralph and Sarah Hill and for a 2nd year the ladies from Team Galileo Risk are ready to take on the Bezhoek Extreme MTB Festival 2019 on the 1st and 2nd of June.

In 2018 Sarah took 3rd place in a very strong ladies field, finishing behind Amy Beth McDougall (1st) and Robyn de Groot (2nd). Theresa unfortunately had to pull out after stage one due to illness but she assured us that 2019 will be a different story.

In a 2018 post race interview we asked Sarah what she thought of Bezhoek and like many other riders her answer was;  “this is what real mountain biking looks like, a physically and mentally demanding race with a perfect mix of different terrain”. The average speed of the winning lady in the 93km ultra-marathon was just under 20km/h which gives you a good indication of the challenge presented to riders. When asked if there was anything different she would like to see in 2019 she said a stronger mens pro-field would make this an epic battle.

We recently caught up with Sarah and Theresa to hear what their expectations are for the 2019 Bezhoek Extreme MTB Festival and this is what they had to say: “Bezhoek is a very special place for both of us. We’ve been fortunate enough to be part of the development of the event and trails and we are also presenting a number of ladies skills weekend there. The the terrain is challenging with the mix of tracks slightly in favour of the more technical rider. It has all the ingredient for a world class marathon track and last years race proved it. Knowing the Bezhoek team we expect at least double the fun we had in 2018″

Well ladies we can assure you we won’t disappoint. The team and all the sponsors are hands-on-deck to ensure yet another benchmark event.
Wishing you all the best and looking forward to seeing you and all the other riders on the start line on the 1st of June.

For those who haven’t entered there are three race options available. Go to and grab yourself an entry before it’s too late.
