This route is our pride and joy and every year we ensure you get something special and different. Cascades is a 50m switchback drop down to the river which guarantees some white-knuckle fun. Once you have reached the end of the 3km Confluence single track riders are faced with a gigantic 2km climb to the top of Bankfontein where the 1st riders will be crowned KOM/QOM. Once you are back onto Bezuidenhoutshoek you faced with the Confluence climb. This is a tough 4x4 route where most riders will at least lose traction once. Just before the top of the climb the entrance to Disneyland greats you. Single track meanders through the most amazing rock formations. After Disneyland you will join the Marathon route again for a race back to the finish. The Elite riders will come in at just over 4h30m at an average speed of 22km/h.
After a very hard day in the saddle and an evening of sharing war stories with live entertainment riders are treated to a faster half marathon that shows off the amazing views along the Klein Olifants River. The route still offers a decent technical challenge with enough climbing including the now, infamous Hammerkop and Leopard climb. Gradients in excess of 30% means you need that grammy gear and a high cadence is what will get you to the top without putting a foot down. The Elite riders will come in at just over 2h00m at an average speed of 24km/h.
